Senior Associate Jessica Murray has joined the Property and Commercial team at Attwood Marshall Lawyers, bringing with her significant experience in residential and commercial conveyancing and a passion for business and commercial advisory services.

We’re thrilled to introduce our new Head of Property and Commercial Law, Senior Associate Jessica Murray.

Jessica joins Attwood Marshall Lawyers from a boutique property and commercial law firm on the Gold Coast, where she worked for nearly nine years building up significant experience in residential and commercial conveyancing as well as business and commercial transactions and structuring.

Her appointment at Attwood Marshall Lawyers comes after the firm’s previous department head, Barry van Heerden, retired from law after an impressive 43 years in the industry. In her new leadership role, Jessica will largely focus on servicing our business and commercial clients. She will also take on property and commercial conveyancing matters.

Attwood Marshall Lawyers’ Business and Commercial Law services include buying and selling businesses, retail and commercial leasing, business succession planning and franchising.

We also represent clients on management rights, business structuring, trusts and company law, medical and dental business transactions, and agreements for partnerships, shareholders or unitholders.

On the property side, Jessica brings with her significant experience in residential and commercial conveyancing, subdivision and general property and commercial dealings.

Since her admission in 2016, Jessica has acted in a range of different matters, representing large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as individuals. Jessica has cultivated strong client relationships and provides practical advice to achieve the best outcomes for her clients.

Jeff Garrett, legal practice director at Attwood Marshall Lawyers, said:

“We are thrilled to have Jessica join the Attwood Marshall Lawyers Property & Commercial team. She brings a wealth of experience and is a great communicator. Our clients in this area want sensible commercial advice that is not purely about the legal issues and Jessica can provide that guidance. Her appointment is testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering top-tier legal services in property and commercial matters, and we look forward to further solidifying our position as a trusted advisor in this space.”

On her new position, Jessica Murray said:

“I’ve always appreciated the diverse nature of commercial and business transactions and can’t wait to dive into my new role. This area of law demands a comprehensive understanding of our clients: their future aspirations, opportunities, and the potential ramifications that may impact their businesses.”

“I am excited to collaborate with the team so that we uphold the highest standards and ensure continued client satisfaction,” she added.

The team

Our Property & Commercial team have the expertise to ensure clients receive reliable and up-to-date legal advice. Servicing both Queensland and New South Wales, our lawyers assist buyers and sellers with residential purchases, investment properties, and off-the-plan contracts.

We are also able to provide comprehensive services for commercial conveyancing and help clients navigate the many issues that can arise when acquiring or disposing of commercial real estate.

Jessica will work closely with Property and Commercial Law Department Manager Taylah Lein, who is a law graduate and oversees file management and supervising the compliance of the department’s lawyers and paralegals, as well as nurturing relationships with referral partners. Taylah is the first point of contact for all enquiries and takes initial details, ensuring that the matter is something our team can assist with, and matching the client with the right lawyer for their unique matter. Taylah is filling in for our usual department manager, Jess Kimpton, who is on maternity leave. When Jess returns from leave, Taylah will complete her practical legal training and be admitted as a lawyer, remaining an integral part of the team.

Also on the team are our experienced Property and Commercial lawyers Mieke Elzer, Hannah Roach and Bronwyn Scofield, with Paralegal Jorja Brewer.

Often when people are buying and selling property, they have other legal matters they need to resolve. As an all-service law firm, our specialist departments support each other to help with any overlapping legal issues, which for property transactions can also include transitioning to aged care, family law matters, property disputes, or updating a Will and estate planning.
