Attwood Marshall Lawyers’ Family Law Department is very happy to announce the return of experienced family law solicitor Emily Edmonds to the team, who returns to the firm’s Coolangatta office located in The Strand Shopping Centre.
All About Emily
Emily is a Gold Coast/Tweed born and bred local with over 12 years’ experience working in the legal industry. Emily took a short break from practising law at the end of 2021, start of 2022, as she welcomed her second child with her husband, a Tweed local Police Officer.
Her welcome return sees Emily coming back to a bigger and stronger family law team, having recruited an additional Senior Associate Lawyer and Law Graduate since Emily has been on leave. The growing team is set to help a surge of family law, domestic violence, and estate planning clients as a result of COVID-19 and the prevalence of domestic and family violence-related matters in our community.
“Being a mum of two, I understand the importance of family and community,” said Emily.
“I am excited to be back at the firm and am ready to assist clients to navigate their way through stressful and overwhelming legal matters that usually arise during some of the most difficult times in their lives.”
A naturally empathetic and skilled legal practitioner, Emily assists clients in divorce applications, property disputes, parenting disputes, as well as estate planning matters including Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Appointments of Enduring Guardian.
“Helping our clients through the court process is a tough job but highly rewarding for me as a lawyer because I get to see families and children settle into their lives. That is my aim every day – to work towards a true resolution,” said Emily.
Emily is part of the firm’s highly reputed Family Law Department, joined by Family Law Special Counsel Michael Twohill, who has over 40 years of legal experience with special expertise in dealing with complex family law matters that involve domestic and family violence, Senior Associate Hayley Condon who offers over 16 years’ extensive experience in all aspects of Family Law, with a particular interest in dealing with challenging cases involving entrenched property disputes, Senior Associate Carlu Booth who brings to the firm over 20 years of industry experience, Family Lawyer Laura Dolan, Department Manager Donna Tolley, and supported by dedicated Law Graduate Farah Khateeb and Paralegal Brittany Watsford.
Attwood Marshall Lawyers are ready to assist families involved in contentious disputes
There has been an increase in the number of urgent applications filed in the Courts since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit our shores.
With domestic and family violence continuing to be one of Australia’s most significant health and welfare issues, this has put a serious strain on the family law system. There is increased pressure on those most vulnerable in our community and a drastic need for skilled family law practitioners who can assist people experiencing domestic and family violence.
Statistics are also showing increases in familial stress, and anecdotally, we’re seeing more couples separated and under one roof. We are filing more applications for parenting orders and orders relating to property. To meet the growing demand in this sector, Attwood Marshall Lawyers are proud to boost the team with an intent to help as many families as possible.
Emily is based at the firm’s Coolangatta office; however, Hayley is based at the Robina Town Centre Office, and Carlu, Laura and Michael split their time between Robina, Coolangatta and Kingscliff offices to ensure clients from all locations can access a suitably qualified lawyer at the office conveniently located office.
