Melissa joined our Wills & Estates department in July 2011 and specialises in Estate Planning and Estate Litigation.
Melissa has lived on the Gold Coast for the past 19 years and graduated from the Queensland University of Technology in 2009 with a Bachelor of Laws and was admitted to the legal profession as a solicitor in 2010.
Prior to studying law, Melissa had already attained a broad knowledge in legal matters in her para-legal and Articled Clerk capacities over some 14 years.
Melissa’s areas of expertise include Wills, Testamentary Trusts, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration and Estate Litigation in both the New South Wales and Queensland jurisdictions. Her wealth of experience in both New South Wales and Queensland Succession Law enables her to provide comprehensive advice to those client’s with cross-jurisdictional issues.
Melissa has achieved successful outcomes for many clients in both bringing family provision claims against an Estate and in defending claims on behalf of the Estate, as well as other litigious estate matters in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and both the District and Supreme Courts of Queensland, such as applications for construction and rectification of Wills, attorney disputes and compensation to the estate, Probate in solemn form and removal of executors/trustees.
Melissa is a valuable member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP). STEP is the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations. STEP promotes best practice, professional integrity and education to their members.
Throughout her career, Melissa has also had extensive experience in other areas of law including Banking and Finance, Commercial Leasing, Commercial property acquisitions and sales, Property Development Projects and Conveyancing.
Melissa currently heads up the Robina office of Attwood Marshall Lawyers.
On the weekends Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband Jamie and three children Jessica, Jonah and Indi out in the garden on their acreage property at Mudgeeraba Forest and swimming at the beach.
