a message from property and commercial department manager jess kimptona

Happy new year everyone! I hope you have kicked off the year with plenty of market activity and momentum as the real estate industry returns in 2021 much stronger!

As we reflect on 2020, the year threw plenty of surprises our way. It was certainly a year like no other and we saw this flow through our law firm with a spike in enquiries across most areas of law. Throughout the year, we were able to maintain our exceptional level of customer service with our Quality Practice Management systems, meticulous internal procedures, use of electronic conveyancing methods, and ensuring COVID safe practices were always followed at all our office locations.

It was fascinating to see how COVID-19 affected the property market in 2020, particularly with growing interest in coastal areas, as many New South Wales and Victorian buyers expressed intent to move north for a sea change (and to escape COVID-19!). Initially, the property activity ground to a halt at the end of the March quarter, but slowly picked up in the June quarter and went crazy in the December quarter!

Since the end of 2020, our property and commercial team have been exceptionally busy with an influx in enquiries and eager buyers ready to secure their next property, taking advantage of the record-low interest rates  and borrowing costs currently available.

With the local Queensland/New South Wales/Victorian borders recently reopened, allowing for interstate travel once more, we are predicting property activity and enquiries will continue to climb.

Just a reminder that we are highly experienced in PEXA transactions and are able to effectively execute e-conveyancing processes. This allows us to provide greater confidence to buyers and sellers with hassle-free settlements that settle on the due date. PEXA eliminates the need for face to face interaction, which is more important than ever before as we continue to face the everchanging COVID-19 restrictions.

Our Robina Town Centre office is open Thursday nights and Saturday mornings for our client’s convenience. If you have any prospective buyers or sellers signing contracts after property inspections over the weekend, our team are available should anyone require legal advice.

We are looking forward to working with you for an exciting year ahead. Our aim is to do our best to settle matters on time with a minimum of fuss. Moving house is one of the most stressful events in life – we want to make sure the legal process runs smoothly.

If you or your clients need help with any property related matters, please don’t hesitate to call us anytime by phoning our 24/7 phoneline on 1800 621 071, or email me directly at jkimpton@attwoodmarshall.com.au and I will be happy to help.
