Attwood Marshall Lawyers are excited to announce the new appointment of a highly experienced Family Law Senior Associate to our growing Family Law department, explains Legal Practice Director Jeff Garrett.
Carlu Booth, who was raised in Melbourne, has resided on the Gold Coast for the past 30 years. Growing up, Carlu always knew she wanted to work in law, specifically in family law.
She has worked in the legal industry for over 20 years, having completed her Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) at Griffith University, where she received the Top Graduate Award. Following the completion of her studies at Griffith University, Carlu commenced practising exclusively in family law at a boutique law firm on the Gold Coast whilst completing her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the Queensland College of Law.
Carlu was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in early 2011.
She is a member of the Queensland Law Society, the Family Law Practitioners Association and the Gold Coast District Law Association.
As a solicitor practising exclusively in Family Law, Carlu’s focus is on assisting clients in finding practical and cost-effective legal solutions, whether it be by negotiation and mediation or through Court proceedings. Carlu is acutely aware that each family law matter is as unique as each family, and she is driven to achieve the best outcomes for her clients in a confidential and sympathetic environment.
Carlu shares Attwood Marshall Lawyers’ intent to help people and change their lives for the better, as she finds it most rewarding to help families through tough times, for many usually the most challenging time of their lives.
She was attracted to the newly created role at Attwood Marshall Lawyers because of the firm’s strong reputation, long-standing history of achieving successful results, community engagement, and the office’s positive cultural environment.
Carlu’s expertise lies in:
- Parenting disputes
- Property settlements
- Mediation and dispute resolution
- Financial Agreements
- De Facto Relationships
- Domestic and family violence-related matters
- Spousal Maintenance
- Surrogacy and Adoption
When Carlu is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and meeting new people.
The need for experienced family lawyers
Family lawyers are seeing a jump in the number of people seeking advice about separation and parenting arrangements since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit our shores. This is one of the reasons why Attwood Marshall Lawyers are expanding the Family Law department to ensure we can meet the community’s demand in this space and help as many clients and their families as possible.
Unfortunately, domestic and family violence also continues to be one of our country’s most significant health and welfare issues. There is increased pressure on those most vulnerable in our community and a drastic need for skilled practitioners who can assist people experiencing domestic and family violence. Carlu will be an asset to our firm and her clients as she brings vast experience in this space. She is passionate about guiding her clients to a positive resolution to break the cycle of violence.
Family law is a complex area of law that requires a skilled and experienced practitioner to ensure disputes can be resolved quickly, minimising conflict as much as possible. We believe we have one of the strongest family law teams who offer diverse and specialist skills to support our clients with their matters.
