Free Wills for aged care workers in the Gold Coast and Tweed areas

Reading time: 5 minutes

Attwood Marshall Lawyers is proud to recognise the hard work of aged care professionals in our community. To show our appreciation, we are offering a free Will for all aged care workers across the Gold Coast and Tweed areas throughout the month of March 2024. As a local law firm with a large specialist team of lawyers experienced in estate planning and aged care, we regularly participate in community Wills Days for worthy charities, and this offer is an extension of that community service to support the aged care workforce.

At Attwood Marshall Lawyers, we understand the commitment and compassion of aged care professionals who selflessly care for our vulnerable and elderly population.

We believe that everyone deserves access to quality legal services, especially those who have dedicated their lives to caring for others.

That’s why throughout March 2024, we’re excited to extend a special initiative to aged care workers across the Gold Coast and Tweed area: the opportunity to plan for the future and safeguard their legacy by having a simple Will drafted by an experienced estate planning lawyer at Attwood Marshall Lawyers, free of charge.

The March offer is the firm’s way to give back to the dedicated workers who tirelessly serve in the aged care sector, providing essential care to our elderly citizens day in and day out.

“The aged care sector is a highly demanding industry to work in, particularly when long hours and staffing shortages are all too common,” said Jeff Garrett, Legal Practice Director at Attwood Marshall Lawyers.

“It is common for individuals entering aged care to ensure their Wills and other estate planning documents are up to date. However, those working in the field may not necessarily have the opportunity to do the same.”

“By offering complimentary simple Wills throughout March, we want to ease the burden on these remarkable individuals, ensuring that their wishes are preserved, they can have peace of mind that their legal affairs are in order, and show our gratitude for everything they do,” said Jeff.

Places are limited so any interested professionals should secure an appointment early.

The offer

During March, eligible aged care professionals can take advantage of our complimentary Will drafting service.

The offer includes a 30-minute estate planning review for advice on any strategies individuals may want to consider, and the drafting of one simple Will to be prepared by an experienced estate planning lawyer, tailored to reflect the worker’s unique circumstances and preferences.

Anyone currently employed in the aged care sector on the Gold Coast and Tweed area is eligible to take up the offer.

To have your simple Will drafted, the process is straightforward and starts with an online questionnaire, which will provide your lawyer with essential details about your wishes and preferences. Once the questionnaire is completed, a time is arranged to sit down and discuss your wishes, and from there the Will is drafted and signed.

A simple Will usually costs a minimum of $440 including GST per person to prepare. It includes instructions on how you want your assets to be distributed, guardianship arrangements (if you have minor children), and who you want appointed as your executor.

This type of Will does not include advice on family provision claims or internationally held assets. It also does not deal with complex self-managed superannuation funds, family trusts or issues impacting directors of companies. Those matters are more complex and would require a higher level of estate planning advice that come with additional fees.

Having a legally-binding, professionally drawn Will can give people peace of mind that their legal affairs are in order and their loved ones will be looked after if the unexpected happens.

At Attwood Marshall Lawyers, our dedicated Wills and Estates team comprises lawyers and paralegals who practice exclusively in Wills and Estates. Among them are two accredited aged care professionals who possess the extensive expertise in facilitating smooth transitions to aged care for our clients, informed by their in-depth understanding of the aged care industry.

We offer all our estate planning clients the opportunity to store your Will in our custom-built strongroom for safekeeping and easy accessibility, free of charge.

Clients are provided with an electronic copy of their Will for their reference and records.
