Attwood Marshall Lawyers has expanded its property and commercial law team, increasing our client service provision in business and commercial matters, property law, and conveyancing, writes Legal Practice Director Jeff Garrett.
At Attwood Marshall Lawyers, our Property and Commercial Law team value the strong referral relationships we’ve built with real estate professionals over many years. These partnerships have been earned through our consistent delivery of reliable, high-quality legal services to help clients navigate property and commercial matters with confidence.
With the recent growth of our team, we’re excited to increase our capacity and continue strengthening these relationships across the industry.
For most people, buying or selling a property is one of life’s biggest financial decisions – but it’s rarely just about money. Property decisions are deeply personal. Whether it’s buying a first home, selling after a separation or death, or moving on from a much-loved family home, every decision carries emotional weight. That’s why property transactions are often considered among the top three most stressful life events.
Our lawyers understand that it’s never just a transaction. We’re here to ensure every matter is handled with care and compassion. When you work with our team, you can expect open communication, thoughtful guidance, and a lawyer who’s always available to keep you informed – because we know what’s at stake.
Meet the team
Business & Commercial Law
Tobie Mitchell joins us as a Senior Associate, with a focus on business and commercial law for small to large enterprises.
In his commercial law practice, Tobie advises clients on a broad array of matters including business law, lending, intellectual property, and franchising.
Outside of commercial and business law, Tobie can provide advice on a range of property and real estate matters including commercial and residential developments, purchase and sale of property, strata and community titles law, and leasing.
Tobie strives to understand the position of clients’ individual needs, to build and maintain strong relationships, and to provide commercially viable services to deliver excellent outcomes.
Taylah Lein is the department manager of our Property and Commercial team.
Taylah is soon to qualify as a solicitor and will support Tobie in his business and commercial work.
Taylah joined Attwood Marshall Lawyers in 2023 after working as a law clerk at another Gold Coast firm where she built up experience assisting partners and senior associates with off-the-plan, residential and commercial sales and purchases, business transactions and business structuring, and mortgages and securities.
Property Law
Mieke Elzer is our Property and Commercial Law Senior Associate working across both New South Wales and Queensland jurisdictions.
Mieke’s expertise is in residential and commercial conveyancing when buying or selling property, off-the-plan purchases, body corporate services, business sales, and advice on loan documents.
Mieke is also very interested in comparative law, legal pluralism, and social change, particularly when applied to the areas of environmental protection and Indigenous rights. She actively collaborates with several not-for-profit organisations on this front and is involved in researching the emerging area of law known as “earth law,” which envisages our legal system, particularly our property and environmental law frameworks, from an earth-connected perspective rather than a human-centred perspective.
Hannah Roach joins us as Property and Commercial Associate, with a focus on the sale and purchase of properties in Queensland.
Hannah has supported Mieke and our property law team since she joined Attwood Marshall Lawyers in 2024, coming from experience in property, commercial and real estate law.
Hannah recognises that the sale and purchase of a property is an exciting time in her client’s lives, but one that also requires strict adherence to contractual obligations. She thrives on the fast-paced nature of property transactions and the way they require high attention to detail while also thinking creatively on her feet to ensure her clients’ needs and best interests are being met.
Supporting the Property and Commercial Team
Alexandra Hughes is our Property and Commercial Lawyer with experience across a diverse range of legal fields, developing a passion for property and commercial related matters.
Alexandra has a ‘blue blood’ legal pedigree, having worked for her mother, Gina Hughes, an experienced and respected lawyer on the Gold Coast for over eight years.
As the first solicitor in Queensland to effect a part-tenancy land transfer electronically on the PEXA platform, Alexandra is passionate about delivering conveyancing services electronically. She is a motivated lawyer and always strives to complete client transactions in the most efficient and hassle-free manner, minimising paperwork, and any stress for her clients.
Completing the team is Jess Kimpton who has over 15 years’ experience in property law and residential conveyancing, and supports Taylah in her Department Manager responsibilities, and the team broadly as a Senior Paralegal. Rounding out the team, we also have Jorja Brewer, property and commercial law paralegal.
