Attwood Marshall Lawyers has new premises in Southport’s legal district

News

Attwood Marshall Lawyers is excited to announce a new office location in Southport’s Excalibur Building opposite the courthouse at 52 Davenport Street, to meet growing demand in the CBD and surrounding areas.

Attwood Marshall Lawyers will be opening a new Southport office next month, as the firm continues to expand its services across South-East Queensland, and particularly in the Gold Coast-Brisbane corridor.

The office will be located on Level 2 of the Excalibur Building, at 52 Davenport Street, and will be open for appointments from June 10, 2024.

Our firm proudly returned to Southport in 2023, after an 18-year hiatus from the suburb. Thanks to a significant increase in client enquiries, we have quickly outgrown our current space at 36 Marine Parade, within the Australia Fair shopping complex. Our new, larger office in the Excalibur Building will enable us to better serve our clients’ needs.

The new Southport office will be staffed by two full-time lawyers, paralegals, and supported by dedicated administrative staff. Any of our 40-plus lawyers and paralegals will be available for appointments at the new Southport location, providing comprehensive legal support to our growing client base across all areas of law.

With the Gold Coast’s major courthouse only a stone’s throw from the office, the move will be welcomed by the firm’s litigation lawyers as well as existing and new clients who reside in the northern Gold Coast suburbs.

Southport is home to an estimated 37,000 people and identifies as the Gold Coast’s Central Business District. With the Broadwater Parklands, major hospitals, Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, and commercial infrastructure dominating the region, Southport continues to attract national and international investment.

In addition to the growing business district, we have seen a significant increase in demand for aged care advice. Given the large number of facilities in the area and the industry’s inherent complexities, navigating and trusting available options can be challenging for many individuals.

To address this, we have expanded our aged care services and will be bringing them to Southport. This expansion aims to provide people with greater access to comprehensive aged care advice, assisting them in transitioning smoothly to retirement living or aged care, as well as properly dealing with estate planning as part of that transition.

“We are very selective with where we establish our offices ensuring they are easily accessible and provide a desirable work environment for our staff,” said Jeff Garrett, Attwood Marshall Lawyers Legal Practice Director.

“The Southport office is modern, spacious, and consistent with the atmosphere we create for our staff and clients across all our offices.”

“There have been rumours of a Supreme Court and Family Court registry to be established at Southport, given the huge increase in the population numbers for the Gold Coast region. It makes sense to have an office directly opposite the courthouse – it makes it easy for our lawyers and clients appearing in the District Court, Magistrates Court, QCAT, and Domestic Violence matters.”

“We also look forward to continuing to connect with the northern Gold Coast community as well as networking with likeminded businesses who can help us achieve our goal of helping people and changing their lives for the better,” said Mr Garrett.

The Excalibur Building is on the corner of Davenport Street and Bay Street. The office is only a few streets from Australia Fair shopping complex, which offers over 180 stores including major retailers Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, and Event Cinemas, and easily accessible via public transport. Clients will also have easy access to parking, whether on the street or a multi-level secure lot across the road from the office.

Mr Garrett expects the prominently located office to be well received by clients who live in Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Labrador, Arundel, Parkwood, Molendinar, Ashmore, Bundall, Runaway Bay, Hope Island, and surrounding suburbs.

Attwood Marshall Lawyers had a presence in Southport for many years, only closing the Southport office in 2005 following a partnership restructure. The firm has many connections to Southport with Mr Garrett’s family moving to Southport from Brisbane in the mid-1970s. Mr Garrett completed his education at the Southport High School and played A Grade rugby league for the Southport Tigers, captaining the premiership winning side in 1986. He also played for the Gold Coast Vikings representative side in the Queensland State League competition.

With well-established offices already operating out of Coolangatta, Robina Town Centre, and Kingscliff, the firm prefers its offices to be in conveniently placed locations such as major shopping centres with plenty of parking or close to public transport to make it as easy as possible to visit lawyers and obtain face to face advice. We also have offices in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
