Snapshot: History of Attwood Marshall Lawyers

Attwood Marshall Lawyers traces its foundations to post war 1946 when the late Eric Attwood commenced a practice in the Tweed Heads/Coolangatta area at the conclusion of World War II. Eric Attwood subsequently formed a partnership with Bob Marshall and Jack Woodward to form Attwood Marshall & Woodward. Eric’s son, Richard Attwood joined the partnership in the 1970’s. Jack Woodward left the firm to set up his own practice in 1979. From that point on, the firm has been known as Attwood Marshall Lawyers.

Bob Marshall and Richard Attwood saw a huge period of change during the late 70’s and earlier 80’s, with the most advanced technology of their time being introduced to the firm, and whilst embracing innovation and technology they ensured they maintained strong person-to-person contact with clients, a sentiment which remains strongly in place in the firm today.
Although still associated with the firm’s progress and activities, Bob Marshall retired from the practice in 1989 and Richard Attwood retired in 2001.

Today, Attwood Marshall Lawyers employs over 60 staff, and has 7 office locations around Australia, with 5 located across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and in Northern New South Wales to meet the growing demand from its South East Queensland and New South Wales markets. The firm is an incorporated legal practice in accordance with the provisions of the Legal Profession Act 2007 Qld.
