THE Attwood Marshall Lawyers $150,000,00 Silk Stocking listed race for fillies and mares at the Gold Coast Turf Club is part of a great race card on Saturday, May 4, for the Gold Coast Cup Race Day (formerly the Prime Minister’s Cup).
The race promises to be an exciting event and is an excellent forum for local fillies and mares to obtain the elusive ‘black type’ for their future breeding prospects and value as a broodmare.
Legal Practice Director Jeff Garrett, a former GCTC Board member and keen thoroughbred owner and breeder said the 1200m Silk Stocking race at the new look meeting is a prime drawcard for young female up and comers, including some Gold Coast-trained hopefuls.
The race has also attracted a class field including interstate trainers from some of the top trainers in Australia, including James Cumings (2 runners), Bjorn Baker, and Gerald Ryan.
“Attwood Marshall Lawyers has a long association with the race and is very proud to be sponsoring this event on such an important race day in the Winter Carnival calendar,” Mr Garrett said.
“The Gold Coast Turf Club is one of the best tracks in Australia and the Silk Stocking is a key race for fillies and mares to kick-start their racing and breeding careers.
“The prospect of having the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes upgraded to Group 1 status can only enhance the other races on the card and attract better horses.”
Attwood Marshall Lawyers bookend the race card – they also sponsor the 1st race being a BM75 event and the Silk Stocking is the last race of the day
