Attwood Marshall Lawyers is pleased to announce the promotion of Hayley Condon to Partner. Hayley has been a valued member of the firm’s Family Law and Wills & Estates team since 2015.
Attwood Marshall Lawyers has appointed Hayley Condon as Partner, recognising her more than 20 years of legal experience across family law and estate planning.
Hayley heads up the firm’s Family Law department and oversees the estate planning division within the Wills and Estates team.
Hayley joined Attwood Marshall Lawyers in 2015, having previously practised at Charles Cooper Lawyers and Primrose Couper Cronin Rudkin. She was admitted as a solicitor in 2009, following her articles of clerkship which she began in 2002.
Legal Practice Director Jeff Garrett said the appointment reflected Hayley’s contribution to the firm and to the clients she represents.
“Hayley embodies everything we value as a firm. She is an exceptional lawyer, but more importantly, she is someone who truly cares about the people she represents. Family law in particular requires strength, empathy, and resilience, and Hayley brings all of that to her role every day,” Jeff said.
For Hayley, the appointment marks a significant milestone in a career she has been building since she first entered the legal profession in 2002.
“Looking ahead, my goal is to keep building on the strong foundations we have in both Family Law and Wills & Estates departments, so we can continue helping people through some of the most difficult periods of their lives and give them confidence their affairs are in order for the future,” Hayley said.
Here, she talks us through her two practice areas, what motivates her every day and some tips for those facing legal disputes or concerns.
Why early legal advice matters in family law
Hayley’s areas of practice include matrimonial and de facto property matters, financial agreements, parenting disputes, and divorce applications.
Hayley approaches each family law matter with a keen ear, listening closely to what her clients need, then providing clear advice and practical arrangements that reflect their goals.
“The most rewarding part of the work is helping clients reach a resolution in circumstances they once thought were impossible to get through – and giving them the finality they need to move forward,” she said.
Her advice to anyone facing separation:
“Obtaining legal advice at an early stage is critical, whether that is before separation, where it appears likely, or shortly after it occurs. Even preliminary guidance can assist with addressing immediate issues and understanding the steps ahead. In family law matters, information is key; it helps people protect their interests, make informed decisions, and position themselves for the future,” Hayley said.
The importance of timely estate planning
Alongside family law, Hayley oversees the firm’s estate planning division, working with clients ranging from mums and dads with relatively simple estates to complex corporate and high-net-worth structures.
“The goal of our estate planning team is to give our clients peace of mind that they have a properly documented succession plan in place and that their affairs are in order as they move through life and into retirement, particularly if something unexpected happens,” Hayley said.
“Although it can be confronting to think about death or the possibility of future incapacity, it is important not to put off your estate planning. If these matters are left too long, there may come a point where it is too late for a solicitor to be able to assist,” Hayley explained.
“Putting proper estate planning documentation in place is essential to ensure your wishes are clear and your family is not left to manage a difficult situation at a later date.”
Estate planning documents such as Wills, powers of attorney, and succession arrangements for business or trust structures form the foundation of this protection.
Hayley’s dual expertise in family law and estate planning also means she can advise clients going through separation on reviewing and updating their estate planning documents without needing to be referred elsewhere.
Hayley said the firm’s culture was a key part of why she has built her career at Attwood Marshall Lawyers.
